After her family dies in a gas explosion, Nina wakes up inside her own novel as a side character who's supposed to die. So she drags her crazy mom, soft dad, and goofy brother along to stick with Kaden. They take down a fake cousin, a shady brother, and a crooked agent. Then Kaden falls for her.
